RESOLUTION 1997-8

CITY OF GRANT
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA
 

A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A TIME LIMIT FOR THE CONDUCT OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS.

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRANT, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, AS
FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS, the City of Grant has the authority granted to it pursuant to Minnesota Statutes §412.191, Subd. 2, to pass rules and
regulations governing its own procedure; and,

WHEREAS, a majority of the City Council believes that the order and efficiency of good government can be improved and the length
of City meetings shortened by determining and fixing a time limit on the length of City Council meetings; and,

WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Council of the City of Grant that the time limit referenced herein should normally be considered
the ending time period for a City Council meeting However, in certain circumstances, the time limit can be extended pursuant to the
terms of this Resolution.

NOW, THEREFORE, based upon the foregoing, the following Resolution was duly made, seconded and approved:

1.   That City Council meetings shall not last past 10:30 p.m..  An effort shall be made to begin Council meetings promptly at 7:00
p.m.  (or at such other time as has been set for said meeting)

2.   That the time deadline set in Paragraph 1 may be extended by a majority vote of the City Council.

WHEREUPON, a vote being taken upon the motion, said motion was passed by a majority of the City Council members.

WHEREUPON, said motion was declared duly passed on the 2nd day of December 1997.
