WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING DISCUSSION OF A "RUSTIC DESIGN
STANDARD" FOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE CITY OF STILLWATER ALONG
COUNTRY ROAD 15 ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF GRANT

WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater prides itself on its historic and rustic character; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Grant wishes to preserve its rural character and to be a Permanent Rural community as defined by the
Metropolitan Council; and,

WHEREAS, a Permanent Rural City of Grant is beneficial to the City of Stillwater in that it provides a buffer between Stillwater and

town" rather than taking on the character of a "suburb;" and,

WHEREAS, with the recent annexation of former land of Stillwater Township, the City of Stillwater has expanded out to the east
boundary of Grant at County Road 15; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Stillwater plans for major development along County Road 15.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City 0£ Grant as follows:

1. We endorse the concept of a "rustic design standard" for development along County Road 15 in the City of Stillwater said
"standard" to be in keeping with the historic and rustic character of the City of Stillwater as well as the Permanent Rural character of
its immediate neighbor the City of Grant.

2. We respectfully request a meeting of representatives of the City of Stillwater, Washington County and the City of Grant to discuss
the feasibility of this concept.
