Resolution 2002 – 07

CITY OF GRANT, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRANT EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL AS IT RELATES TO POTENTIAL NEW INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 832 BUILDINGS IN THE CITY OF GRANT.

WHEREAS:  On June 6, 2000 the Grant City Council declined to endorse a contract proposed by Independent School District 832 regarding extending sewer and water to future new school buildings on property directly south of the present School District property on CSAH 12 and,

WHEREAS:  At a joint meeting with members of Independent School District 832 School Board and the Mahtomedi City Council on August 14, 2001 the Grant City Council members present agreed informally that adequate sewer and water service would be available to such a new school building.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:  That it is reasonably expected that well and septic will be first investigated by the Mahtomedi School District.

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER That the City of Grant agrees that adequate water and waste treatment service would be allowed to a school building on property to be approved, at the time of application, based upon all the facts, circumstances, and technologies available at that time.

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER THAT no individual or resident of Grant shall be assessed, taxed or otherwise be required to pay for the provision of any utilities crossing their property for the benefit of the Mahtomedi School District except the amount all others within the district have voted in referendum to pay.

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER THAT no individual or resident of Grant shall have the right or ability to use the water and sewer system installed by the Mahtomedi School District.
 
WHEREUPON, a vote, being taken upon the proposed resolution by submitted by Rick Vanzwol and seconded by Council person Sharon Schwarze, the following members voted in favor:  Rick Vanzwol, Sharon Schwarze, Tim Gangnon and Mayor Thomas Carr;

and the following voted against:  Art Welander.
