 CITY OF GRANT
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA



 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF GRANT TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR
 BROWNFIELDS REVITALIZATION GRANT FUNDS FOR TO BE USED FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WASTE MANAGEMENT
 SITE LOCATED IN THE CITY OF GRANT AND ENCOURAGING SUPPORT FOR THE PROJECT BY ITS ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES
 

                WHEREAS, the City has been pursuing the revitalization of certain property which has commonly been referred to as the former
Bellaire Sanitation site which is currently owned by Waste Management; and

                 WHEREAS, during the course of pursuing revitalization of the property the Environment Protection Agency was authorized by
Congress to administer funding of the Brownfield Revitalization and Environmental Restoration Act of 2001; and

                WHEREAS, the City of Grant meets the criteria to be an applicant for a grant and loans which would be used to revitalize the Bellaire
Sanitation site; and

                WHEREAS, the City of Grant desires to adopt a resolution supporting its application for grant funds and loans under the Brownfields
Revitalization and Environmental Restoration Act of 2001 to the Environmental Protection Agency.
 

                NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Grant hereby strongly supports an application being submitted to the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for funding under the Brownfields Revitalization and Environmental Restoration Act of 2001 and
hereby authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to sign any applications which may be necessary to make the application.
 

                IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Grant encourages its Senators and Representatives to support the City of Grant’s
application for said funding by providing a letter of support which may be utilized during the application process and to encourage the EPA to
consider make distributions from the grant in the spring of 2003 or to allow entities to pay themselves back for costs incurred to revitalize the
appropriate sites.
 

                WHEREUPON, a vote, being taken upon a motion by Rick Vanzwol and seconded by Council person Sharon Schwarze, the following
members voted in favor:  Mayor Tom Carr, Rick Vanzwol, Sharon Schwarze, and Tim Gangnon and the following voted against Art Welander
