Manning Avenue Construction Project
Manning Avenue will be widened to four lanes, with new traffic signals at Liberty Avenue, Settlers Way and revisions to the existing traffic signals at Highway 36 and 75th Street. A trail will be built on the east side to accommodate bikes and pedestrians. Work will begin in the area north of 75th Street and at the 75th Street intersection. During the first phase of the project, an additional turn lane will be added on eastbound Highway 36 at Lake Elmo Avenue (Washington County State Aid Highway 17), to accommodate traffic that will be re-routed to Lake Elmo Avenue during the Manning Avenue construction. Phase one will last approximately three weeks to a month. The second phase of construction will see Manning Avenue closed to all but local traffic between 62nd Street North and Settlers Way. This closure will last until fall. Manning Avenue will remain open to traffic from 62nd Street to the south throughout the project. The project is planned to be open to traffic near the end of October, with final completion in early 2009. Tower Asphalt, Inc. is the contractor for the project.
